A coalition of youths in Anambra State have urged the presidential candidate of the Labour party, Mr Peter Obi to drop his presidential ambition for the interest of Igbo people.
Addressing journalists at a press conference in Awka at the weekend, National Leader of the coalition, Dr. Chinedu Ekwealor, said the former Anambra state governor cannot claim to love Ndigbo if he cannot consider the interest of the people ahead of his personal ambition.
According to Ekwealor, Obi should step down and strategies for future elections as his present ambition will only deny the Ndigbo the presidential seat for a long time.
“If Peter Obi truly loves Ndigbo, he should step down forthwith and strategise with other well-meaning Igbo elites in charting a way forward for the Ndigbo. " Ekwealor said.
Speaking further, Ekwealor said Peter Obi, Ohaneze Ndigbo as well as all the prominent people in the South-East should begin to push for a new narrative for the Igbo nation in the forthcoming presidential election, and secure bankable negotiations for Igbo political renaissance.
