10th NASS Leadership: Zone Senate President To Southeast, Says Onuchukwu

Ahead of the inauguration of 10th National Assembly members in June, the All Progressives Congress, APC leadership has been urged to zone the position of the senate president to the south east geo-political zone of Nigeria. Making this call in a press statement issued in Abuja, the APC South East Leader in FCT, Hon. Lawrence Onuchukwu said this becomes necessary in the interest of inclusiveness, equity and fairness in the country. FCT: JSS Gwagwalada Holds Sports Festival, Principal Restates Commitment To Sports Development

Junior Secondary School, Gwagwalada Abuja has organised its Annual Inter - House Sports Festival. On the occasion in Abuja, the FCT Commissioner, Public Complaint Commission, Mr Ezekiel Dalhatu called for more programmes that would encourage sporting activities among students of secondary schools in the country. Mr Dalhatu who' described sports as one of the veritable tools for national development advised students to develop keen interest in sports and be committed to their studies. In a remark, the Chairman of Toto Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, Mr Abdullahi Aliyu Tasha stressed the need for Governent at all levels to Invest more in sports to enhance the growth of the sector. JUST IN: Supreme Court Orders Old N200, N500, N1,000 Notes To Remain Legal Tender Till December 31

 The Supreme Court has ruled that the old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes remain legal tender till December 31, 2023. This is one of the rulings of the nation’s apex court on Friday, March 3, 2023. The court decried the implementation of the naira policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria. The Supreme Court faulted President Muhammadu Buhari on the naira policy.

Obi Can't Be President, Says Atiku

 The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, did not win enough votes to make him president, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate  Atiku Abubakar said yesterday. The duo were contenders in last Saturday’s presidential election that was won by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Obi got 6, 101,533 from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). But, the biggest of the votes – 1,960,589 – were secured in the Southeast states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.

Peter Obi Could Not Have Won The Presidential Poll, Says Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, said on Thursday that he believed his former ally-turned-opponent, Peter Obi, could not have won Saturday’s presidential election. Atiku said Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party, could not have got the constitutionally-required spread needed to be declared president. Apart from winning the majority votes, a candidate is also expected to get 25 per cent of votes in at least 25 states to be declared the winner of the presidential election. In his speech, Atiku acknowledged that Obi’s candidacy denied PDP votes from its traditional strongholds in the South-east and South-south regions but said victory in those regions could not sufficient for Mr Obi to be declared president.
