Special advisor to Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Bello Malami Yarima, has left the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to join the main opposition, the All Progressives Congress.
Malami oversaw the Marshall, a state-owned security company.
Aliyu Wamakko, the state APC leader and senator who represents the Sokoto-North Senatorial zone, and Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, the minister of police affairs, officially welcomed him into the party on Friday at the former home in Gawon Nama.
Malami made a commitment to work for the party's victory in the upcoming 2023 elections.
The Special Adviser returned to his place of origin after being "gone on sabbatical," according to Ahmad Aliyu, the APC candidate for governor in the state, who spoke at the ceremony.
"You are back where you will be respected and kept in high esteem. As you are already aware, the APC treats all of its members equally and with the utmost respect.
Alhaji Umaru Chori Sanyinna, a prominent PDP member from Tambuwal Local Government (LGA), was also welcomed into the APC by Senator Wamakko.
