The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore has reacted to the proposed increment in the Nigerian minimum wage should the party wins the presidential election in 2023.
The Labour Party's Deputy National Chairman, Ayo Olorufemi had said the LP is looking at implementing a new minimum wage of between N80,000-N100,000 as against the current N30,000.
There has been some doubts to the possibility of the Labour Party to implement the proposed minimum wage if it wins in 2023 as questions arise regarding the source where the money will come from.
However, while reacting to the promise by the Labour Party, Omoyele Sowore said that the Labour Party stole the promise from the African Action Congress's 2018 campaign. He added that the minimum wage idea is now outdated.
According to Omoyele Sowore, the minimum wage must reflect the cost of living and purchasing power parity. He added that they are proposing at least 250,000 naira minimum wage for Nigerian workers.
