The Federal Capital Territory FCT stakeholders under the auspices of FCT Non-Natives Forum has lamented the continued Marginalisation of FCT stakeholders in the area of political appointments.
In a press statement issued by the forum's General Secretarddy, Comrade Abdulwahab Ekekhide and made available to newsmen over the weekend, called for urgent attention to redress the marginalisation.
Comrade Ekekhide said that FCT Non-Natives Forum, a coalition of civil societies and community based groups, decided to draw the attention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly to the continued marginalisation of FCT stakeholders in various appointments.
The General Secretary who said that so many appointments have been made so far, but only two persons have been appointed from FCT into federal level, a Minister and Special Assistant to the President, described the situation as disheartening and marginalisation of the people of FCT.
While appreciating President Tinubu for creating a record to be the first Nigeria President to ever appoint an FCT indigene to be Minister of the Federal RepublicofNigeria, he therefore urged the President to redress the injustice FCT stakeholders have suffered in the hands of successive governments in the past.
The forum disclosed that there were lots of parastatals, commissions and boards still pending, therefore, pleaded with all well meaning leaders to look at the FCT stakeholders and deploy all political machineries to assist them to be appointed into parastatals that can bring development and improve the wellbeing of the people of FCT.
The Forum noted that the recent appointments made by FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, did not showed that he wanted President Tinubu to win FCT in 2027 Presidential elections, because he appointed complete strangers to occupy positions in the FCT, whereas, he would have settled down to look at the pool of professionals, technocrats and seasoned politicians that are connected with the grassroots people of FCT.
Ekekhide said that the implication of not appointing FCT stakeholders was a call to lose elections in subsequent elections.
