A pro-democracy activist and Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon. Gabriel Bravo Oluohu (JP), has begged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to 'temper justice with mercy' on the suspended Minister of Humanitarian affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Beta Edu's alleged corruption case.
In a press statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, Gabriel Bravo Oluohu, who was at various times Supervisory Councillor in AMAC, said though the president's swift action to activate investigation on the suspended Minister was applauded by many Nigerians, there was need for him to take a second look at the case and yield to the popular demand for her reinstatement.
"Mr President, please temper justice with mercy for the sake of the critical role Dr Betta Edu has played as a dedicated, performing, intelligent and competent minister at this critical time of your administration.
"This call became necessary because she has not been found wanting by any investigating panel and also because the nation could not afford to keep off her best hands from governance at this challenging time" Bravo Said.
Bravo who reasoned that Edu has not been indicted by now in spite of the case being the most talk of the town, noting that she is still innocent until proven otherwise.
The pro democracy activist said that if such has happened, they would have release the indicting report since without any delay.
He called on president Tinubu that since there was no indicting report on her, she should be allowed to continue her work at the ministry and not be carried away by those making noise calling for her punishment without having facts and figures to back up their claim of her alleged corruption.
While describing the suspended Minister as one of the Tinubu's Cabinet first eleven, Bravo liken the current matter to a football scenario, where no football club could afford to bench its best players in a very critical match and at the same time, saying it would not good for the country to bring her down at this challenging time.
